The first Wednesday Lotto winner, a mother from Innisfail in Far North Queensland, screamed with joy when lottery officials called her at work to announce the life-changing news.

“You’re joking! You must be joking! I’ve won the lotto? I’ve won one million dollars?” the woman screamed in completely disbelief. She said she couldn’t contain herself after realising she had woken up a millionaire. “I’ve always dreamt of this day but you never think it will actually happen.”

Her winning 12-game Standard ticket was purchased from a local newsagency. The winning woman said she always chose her own numbers based on a combination of birthdays and random numbers.

When asked what she planned to do with the prize money, she said she would like a new car for the family.

“And we will definitely pay off the mortgage and be mortgage free. I can’t wait to spoil the kids! My husband won’t believe me!”

The second winner had tears in her eyes

The second Wednesday Lotto winner, a woman from Gracemere in South East Queensland, said she had tears in her eyes when she received the phone call from lottery officials.

“Oh god! Wow! How am I going to go back to work and look normal?” she laughed. “I have butterflies in my stomach. My legs feel wobbly, my knees feel wobbly! I can barely stand up!”

The winning woman said that things like this didn’t happen to normal people like herself. She purchased the winning 18-game Standard ticket from a local newsagency and has big plans for spending the windfall.

“We will buy a nice house and have a beautiful garden,” she shared, adding that marriage was also on the cards. “Then I am going to retire from work. I never thought I’d be retiring at this age!”

“This feels surreal! We can finally do all the things we’ve been wanting to do. It’s just amazing.”
