Five Australians have started the week as brand new lotto winners after they all won a Division 1 prize in a recent $4,000,000 Saturday Lotto. Each of the five Saturday Lotto winners – two from Queensland, two from Western Australia, and one from Tasmania – took home over $800,000 in the draw.
The first Queensland winner, located in the Moreton Bay suburb of Kippa-Ring, said the news of his “really awesome” win didn’t hit him straight away. In fact, he didn’t even realise he had won until his mother checked his 36-game Quickpick for him!
“My mum actually checked my Gold Lotto ticket for me on Saturday night,” he said. “When she realised I’d won first division, she went mad!”
It took a while for the news to sink in, and the winner in his 30s said he was “too overwhelmed” to think about what he would do with the winnings. “It’ll just be nice to know that I have it in the bank!” he said. His winning ticket was purchased from a local newsagency.
The other Sunshine State Division 1 prize, worth $871,578.87 across multiple divisions, went to a Gold Coast syndicate. Each of the 22 members took home a share worth $39,617.22 thanks to their winning System 11 ticket purchased from a local newsagency.
Further south, a George Town woman was shocked to hear from a lottery official that she was Tasmania’s sole Division 1 winner in the draw. “Just give me a minute to pick myself of the floor,” she said, adding that it was lucky she had a good heart.
“Wow, I’m really not dreaming because I’ve just pinched myself!”
Her winning system 7 ticket, purchased from a local newsagency, featured her family’s “special” lotto numbers which she’d been playing for many years. “The family’s been playing them and passing them on for generations!”
In Western Australia, the winning tickets were purchased from local newsagencies in Ballajura and Willetton.
The winning numbers from Saturday Lotto draw 3529 on May 16th 2015 were 10, 30, 26, 15, 45 and 16 plus supplementary numbers 21 and 12.
