For days, the inner-city suburb of Melbourne has been abuzz, looking for the $55 million Powerball winner. The sole winner of the 11 January 2018 Powerball draw.

The ticket was sold at a newsagency in the central area of Barkly Square.

No doubt regularly customers are visiting in the shop with their tickets, hoping for good news. But the winner has yet to be identified.

$55 million is a life-changing amount. Perhaps the winner is taking a few days to get comfortable with their win. Maybe they’re setting up bank accounts and trust funds, before claiming the money.

Or maybe they are walking the streets unaware, having their daily coffee just doors away from the newsagency, with the winning ticket stuffed, maybe forgotten, in their wallet.

Let’s hope the ticket is safe – if the winner does not have an online ticket, they need to show a physical ticket with the winning numbers to officials in order to claim their prize winnings.

What would they do?

If the winner comes forward this week they still have time to book the best seats in the house for Australian Open tennis. Or perhaps get in early for the AFL grand final. Maybe even book a whole box for family and friends.

Another option for the winner is to take early retirement and head to the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. And they have several choices of travel from Melbourne to Queensland. They could buy a luxury campervan with air-conditioning, hire a limo with a full-time driver, book first-class seats on a plane, or take a luxury yacht up the coast of Australia. With $55 million they no longer need to travel on a budget!

Even though the Powerball jackpot has been won, there are still several chances for Australians to become millionaires this week. Get your Powerball ticket at Oz Lotteries for your chance to win!
