To celebrate the new Surf Life Saving Prize Home draw, we’re sharing a touching story from the winner of draw 190.
Laurence was working when he got a call from a Brisbane number. After he finished work, he called back and was shocked to discover the call was to let him know he had just won a $1.4 million Bribie Island prize home!
Laurence has had plenty of experience with lottery draws, having supported them for at least 16 years. He explains how it is the cause that started his purchases, after being caught in a life-threatening rip. It was a lifeguard (“Jesus on a surfboard” according to Laurence), that saved him from the terrifying experience.
“You guys on the beach, you’re actually saving lives. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for that guy.”
A few weeks later, he saw a Surf Life Saving stand. Knowing first-hand how important Surf Life Savers are, he hasn’t stopped supporting ever since.
Upon learning the news of winning, Laurence was shocked and thrilled.
“We don’t have to worry about mortgages, holidays. We just don’t have to worry. The pressure’s off.”
