A Castle Hill local is over the moon after discovering his Powerball ticket had won an entire $10 million jackpot. The winner had played 12 games online in the Powerball draw 1265 on Thursday 13 August 2020. Incredibly, his ticket matched all 7 main numbers and the all-important Powerball!

The winner shared how he had learned the winning news. During half time of an AFL game between the Sydney Swans and Greater Western Sydney Giants, he decided to check his ticket on his phone. He noticed some missed calls but figured they were from his friend, looking to egg him on about the state of the match. They were actually from lottery officials looking to confirm the results.

Initially, the winner thought he had won just $14.60. It took him a few moments to realise that was the cost of his ticket and that he was in fact a $10 million Powerball winner! Once he realised how much he had won, an incredible $10,307,848.53 he admitted he almost fainted.

While he spent all night waiting to speak with officials, he determined what he would spend his windfall on. He had been working in aged-care, but unfortunately lost his job recently due to COVID-19. He is looking forward to relaxing, buying his first home, supporting an animal charity, and sharing his luck with close friends. Even more, once restrictions have eased, he hopes to travel to Europe and follow up his family history, and travel to the US to visit the US Masters Golf Tournament.

Above all, the winner is looking forward to one thing – a new smile! While speaking with lottery officials, he revealed, “I haven’t smiled in 20 years because my teeth are so bad. The first thing I want to get are some implants. I didn’t get to sleep until 5.30am this morning because I was just looking at teeth.”
